This morning, an accident occurred on the road near Sukhyi Lyman. As a result, two servicemen, one 34 years old and the other 36, died. This information was shared by the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odesa region via Glavkom.
According to preliminary information, a 63-year-old truck driver ran over two servicemen who were near the checkpoint. The driver explained his actions by saying that he did not notice them.
One of the victims died at the scene of the incident, the other died in the ambulance while being transported to the hospital. It has been established that the driver was sober. The police are investigating the case and doing everything possible to clarify all the circumstances of the event and document them in the search database.
“Currently, traffic on this section of the road is complicated. We ask drivers to carefully follow the rules, be vigilant, and not overlook the traffic conditions,” the law enforcement officials emphasize.
This is already the second incident where a driver of a vehicle runs over servicemen. The police of Ternopil are also investigating a case that occurred in September when a Daewoo Lanos car ran over two servicemen. The case is ongoing.
