Electricity in Ukraine: why tariffs are rising
The head of the Union of Consumers of Utilities, Oleg Popenko, stated about the economically unjustified increase in electricity tariffs in Ukraine and the financial problems of the National Atomic Energy Company 'Energoatom'. According to him, 'Energoatom' has accumulated 60 billion hryvnias, which are currently unused, while the increase in tariffs negatively impacts the population and businesses.
The cost of services of NPC 'Ukrenergo' increased by 100% during the war, which became a significant burden on consumers. Popenko emphasizes that a deputy within the structure of 'Ukrenergo' received up to 20 million hryvnias per month, raising questions about the efficiency of spending in this area. He notes that the electricity market model in Ukraine is working against the economy during the war, and this tariff increase is a planned special operation.
"The increase in electricity tariffs for the population and businesses is economically unjustified"

Oleg Popenko suggests suspending the electricity market until the end of martial law plus six months after victory to avoid further economic losses.
Requirements for transparency and regulation
The situation with electricity tariffs in Ukraine is complex and requires urgent resolution. In the context of war and economic instability, the increase in electricity prices only exacerbates the burden on consumers, especially on businesses, which can negatively impact the economic recovery of the country. Experts are calling for greater transparency in the expenditures of state companies and the introduction of stricter regulation of the electricity market to avoid further financial crises.
- The need for urgent resolution of the tariff situation.
- Price increases exacerbate the burden on consumers and businesses.
- Monitoring of state companies' expenditures.
- Introduction of stricter regulation of the electricity market.
Currently, it is important to find a balance between consumer needs and the stability of the energy sector.
