Sixth Ukraine Recovery Conference
The sixth Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC) is scheduled for 2027 in Tallinn. Estonia assumed the role from Poland during the closing ceremony of URC-2026, which wrapped up on June 26 in Gdańsk. Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna accepted the responsibility for organizing the next conference from the Polish delegation.
Plans and Initiatives
Estonia intends to coordinate the conference alongside its Nordic and Baltic partners within the NB8 framework. This approach aims to pool the region's expertise, resources, and experience to deliver more effective support to Ukraine and propose joint initiatives designed to accelerate reconstruction efforts and Ukraine's integration with Europe. Tsahkna stated,
“Rebuilding Ukraine is the largest economic project in Europe for the next decade.”
During the Gdańsk URC-2026 conference, Ukraine secured roughly 160 agreements worth over 10 billion euros. These agreements include:
- a package of 28 energy deals totaling more than 1 billion euros;
- a declaration backing the Ukraine Transport Recovery Fund, with participation from Lithuania, Estonia, and Sweden.
Since 2022, Estonia has already contributed to Ukraine's reconstruction through hundreds of projects. Tsahkna emphasized that dozens of Estonian companies and organizations assist daily in rebuilding Ukraine and strengthening its resilience. Hosting the conference in Tallinn underscores Estonia's commitment to sustaining long-term support for Ukraine and advancing this strategic process on the global stage.
“The closer we bring Ukraine to Europe, the stronger and more resilient Europe as a whole becomes,” said Margus Tsahkna.
Thus, Tallinn is poised to serve as a platform for further steps in Ukraine's recovery and for fostering collaboration among regional countries.
These annual Ukraine Recovery Conferences have become key venues for international cooperation and backing Ukrainian initiatives. Estonia's involvement in organizing the upcoming event highlights the Baltic states' growing role in Ukraine's recovery and its integration into the European community. With the agreements reached at URC-2026, Ukraine receives substantial financial support, which is critical for its reconstruction amid wartime conditions and economic challenges.
As Estonia prepares to host the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference, the nation continues to deepen its collaboration with Ukraine, particularly in innovative sectors. A recent agreement highlights how joint efforts in drone technology can further bolster Ukraine's defense capabilities, showcasing the multifaceted support Estonia is committed to providing during this crucial recovery phase.
