Charity Initiative Provides Hot Meals in Kyiv

In response to the severe damage inflicted on Kyiv's power grid during the mass shelling of January 24th, a charitable initiative will provide free hot lunches to residents of the Holosiiv district on Friday, January 26th. This vital aid is organized by the Iskra Dobra Charity Fund and the Food Without Borders Food Truck project, with support from the MHP-Hromadi Fund. For many residents currently facing power outages, this support is a crucial lifeline.

Power Crisis and Community Support

Kyiv's electricity supply remains in a critical state, with the Desnianskyi district reported to be facing the most severe conditions. Energy company DTEK has announced it is operating under emergency protocols due to systemic problems. In related news, Ukraine's Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba, has announced a large shipment of generators from the European Union is expected to arrive in the country within the next week.

Hot meals will be distributed at the following locations and times:

  • Lyceum No. 220 (7H Heroiv Mariupolia Street) from 3:00 PM;
  • Lyceum No. 179 (120B Holosiivskyi Avenue) from 3:30 PM;
  • Gymnasium No. 110 (5 Kozatska Street) from 3:30 PM;
  • Lyceum No. 286 (6a Zabolotnoho Street) from 3:30 PM;
  • Lyceum No. 241 (12 Holosiivska Street) from 3:30 PM.

Additionally, starting at 5:00 PM, meals will be available at a tent operated by the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, located in the square near 10 Ivana Fedorova Street.

This charitable effort represents a significant step in supporting Kyiv residents who are enduring difficult circumstances following the recent attacks.

Providing hot meals not only addresses basic human needs but also demonstrates community solidarity during a crisis. The anticipated delivery of EU generators could significantly alleviate the power supply issues in the region, thereby improving residents' quality of life as the city works to recover.
