Trial of Ruslan Galizmanov
A court in Kharkiv has imposed a pre-trial restraint measure on 56-year-old Ruslan Galizmanov, suspected of attacking a serviceman from a territorial recruitment center (TRC) on April 6. The court has ordered the suspect to be placed under round-the-clock house arrest for two months on suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm.
The incident occurred when Ruslan Galizmanov stabbed the serviceman in the abdomen. During the attack, a pneumatic pistol and training grenades were also used. As a result of his injuries, the serviceman was hospitalized and underwent surgery. His current condition is assessed as moderately severe. The suspect was detained by law enforcement officers after the attack, while a patrol group was checking documents.
According to the suspect's lawyer, Dmytro Tsyplitskyi, Ruslan Galizmanov did not have his military registration documents with him. Meanwhile, prosecutor Arsenii Yeromin noted that the case involves charges of intentional grievous bodily harm, for which the maximum penalty can be up to 12 years of imprisonment.
Ruslan Galizmanov: 'I am not going to flee; I will comply with all court requirements. I cannot leave my mother. We live together; unfortunately, our family consists of just two people—me and my mother. We have no one else, and there is no one to care for her.'
He also added: 'I had no intention of using the grenades against the military and carried them just in case.' Thus, the court decided to impose house arrest as the pre-trial measure, considering all the circumstances of the case and the positions of the parties.
