FC Karpaty News

FC Karpaty from Lviv has officially announced the signing of 19-year-old goalkeeper Denys Marchenko, who previously played for Obolon. The young shot-stopper has been assigned the number 1 jersey. While the club has not disclosed the exact fee, the transfer is reported to be worth €1 million, with Obolon retaining a 20% sell-on clause for any future move. Marchenko made his senior debut for Obolon on February 23, 2025, and has since appeared in 22 Ukrainian Premier League matches, conceding 23 goals and keeping 11 clean sheets.

Marchenko also brings international youth experience. He has represented Ukraine at the U-20 level and made his U-19 debut in March 2025 during European Championship qualifiers. He is currently part of the U-19 squad preparing for a training camp ahead of the 2026 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

Departures and New Arrivals

In related moves, Karpaty have confirmed the departures of goalkeeper Andriy Klishchuk, forward Ihor Neves, and defender Volodymyr Adamyuk. Goalkeeper Nazar Domchak has transferred to Czech club Slavia, while fellow goalkeeper Oleksandr Kemkin had his contract bought out by Kryvbas. Additionally, forward Bubakar Faal has signed with Czech side Viktoria Plzeň.

Karpaty are set to resume training on June 22, followed by a pre-season camp in Slovenia running until July 19. Eight friendly matches are planned during this period.

Separately, Karpaty have officially confirmed that Maksym Braharu has left Dynamo and signed with Zhytomyr-based Polissya until summer 2029. Braharu had been on loan at Polissya last season, making 26 appearances and recording eight goal contributions (four goals and four assists). Transfermarkt values Braharu at €1.5 million.

The signing of Denys Marchenko signals Karpaty’s intent to invest in young talent, especially in critical roles like goalkeeper.

With multiple players moving on, the club appears to be reshaping its squad and refining its strategy for the upcoming season. The Slovenia training camp in July will be a key phase in preparing the team for future challenges, including friendly matches designed to build chemistry and adapt to new dynamics.

As Karpaty strengthens their squad with the addition of Denys Marchenko, the club is also benefiting from recent player sales that have significantly boosted their finances. With a total of €8 million generated from the transfer of two players, the club is well-positioned for further strategic signings. This financial influx is crucial as they aim to enhance their competitive edge in the upcoming season.
