Utility tariffs in Ukraine: how much payments will rise from 2026

In 2026, a review of utility tariffs in Ukraine is planned, which will lead to a significant increase in costs for consumers. According to the memorandum with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), prices for utility services are to be brought to an 'economically justified level', which implies substantial changes in the financial expenses of Ukrainians.

In particular, the winter bill for an average apartment with an area of 60 square meters could increase by 3 thousand hryvnias, reaching 7-8 thousand hryvnias. The electricity tariff is expected to rise to 5.17 hryvnias per kilowatt, and the cost of a kilowatt may even reach 7.5 hryvnias by 2028. The strategy implies an annual price increase for electricity of 20% until 2028. Such increases in electricity prices, in turn, will lead to a 10% increase in the costs of maintenance services for buildings.

Changes in gas and water tariffs

The gas tariff will also undergo changes and may rise to 11-12 hryvnias per cubic meter. Heating of a standard apartment with an area of 60 square meters could cost 4.8-5 thousand hryvnias. Additionally, the price of a cubic meter of water may rise from 30-40 to 60 hryvnias. The cost of waste removal will increase by 10-15%. The official end of the heating season in Ukraine is planned for April 15, 2026, after which consumers will feel the impact of the new tariffs.

Thus, Ukrainians should be prepared for a significant increase in utility payments, which may substantially affect their budget.

The review of utility tariffs planned for 2026 is part of Ukraine's obligations to international financial organizations, such as the IMF. This decision may have a wide impact on the socio-economic situation in the country, as the rise in utility costs could worsen the financial situation of many families. It is important for the government to provide support to the most vulnerable segments of the population to mitigate the consequences of this tariff increase.
