Today, the virtual meeting of the leaders of the 'Coalition of the Resolute' concluded with a discussion on the strategy to support Ukraine. European leaders and representatives from the US discussed further actions and formed a consolidated position ahead of the upcoming negotiations in Washington, reports CNN.
Radoslaw Sikorski, the head of Poland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized the coalition's principled position: 'Pressure should be applied to the aggressor, not to Ukraine.'
António Costa, the head of the European Commission, stated that without reaching an agreement on a ceasefire, the EU and the US must increase pressure on Russia. 'Ukraine's sovereign right to determine its own conditions for peace must be respected, and Europe is ready to contribute to security guarantees,' Costa emphasized.
Support and Unity of the Coalition Countries' Positions
Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that there is a 'strong consensus among the coalition countries regarding the need to continue supporting Ukraine.' Europe and the US have united their efforts and will continue this joint work at the upcoming negotiations in Washington.
Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Petr Fiala emphasized that the urgent priority is to end the violence and the need for clear security guarantees for Ukraine from the US and Europe at the upcoming negotiations.
