Increase in the Number of Young Ukrainians Crossing the Border

In September, Polish border guards recorded a sharp increase in the number of young Ukrainians crossing the border. According to Zaxid.net, the entry of citizens aged 18-22 increased more than tenfold compared to the previous month.

At the same time, the number of Ukrainians leaving Poland and returning to Ukraine increased by 3.5 times. Official data shows that in September, over 56 thousand Ukrainians in this age category arrived in Poland, while over 19.2 thousand went in the opposite direction.

'According to current legislation and the existing state reporting system in the State Border Guard Service, there are no separate statistical records on the number of border crossing facts for Ukrainian male citizens aged 18 to 22,' the 7th Carpathian border unit reported.

The government changed the exit rules for men during martial law at the request of the president. Since August 28, the Ukrainian border service has allowed men aged 18 to 22 inclusive to cross the state border.

In September, there was a noticeable increase in the number of young Ukrainians crossing the border with Poland. However, it should also be noted that the number of those returning to Ukraine has increased. Authorities changed the exit rules for young men during martial law, which may explain this movement at the border.
