New Weapon Systems Receive Formal Certification
Ukraine's Ministry of Defense has officially codified and authorized the use of 1,184 new weapon and military equipment models during the first half of 2026. Notably, 90% of these systems were manufactured domestically, highlighting a significant boost in the country's defense production capabilities.
Breakdown of the Approved Equipment
The newly certified inventory includes:
- 391 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems
- 216 munitions
- 128 communication devices
- 67 surface-to-surface missile systems (SSMS)
- 56 electronic warfare (EW) and electronic intelligence (ELINT) systems
- 45 vehicles
- 36 optical equipment units
- 34 armored vehicles and specialized armored cars
For context, during the same period in 2025, only 765 models were codified, with roughly 84% also coming from domestic sources. These figures underscore Ukraine's accelerating progress in developing its own defense technologies.
The sharp rise in the number of newly approved weapons and equipment reflects the country's intensified efforts to strengthen its defensive capabilities and expand its national industrial base. Facing ongoing security challenges, the introduction of advanced homegrown technology can significantly improve military effectiveness and reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. The fact that the vast majority of these systems are made in Ukraine further emphasizes the critical role of domestic production in ensuring national security.
