The famous Ukrainian chef Yevhen Klopotenko will contribute to the creation of a practical cookbook for organizing food supply in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This initiative is being implemented within the framework of the reform to improve military nutrition. This is reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The project is named «Preparing for Battle». It is launched by the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense. The main goal is to create a practical manual for those responsible for cooking in military units.
Recipes for the Armed Forces of Ukraine: what the new project entails
The Ministry of Defense explains that many military cooks do not have specialized education, and the only cooking algorithms are often absent. Even with the same ingredients, the outcome in the kitchen can vary significantly.
The reasons for this are:
- various cooking conditions in the units
- differences in equipment
- various levels of experience among cooks.
That is why the key product of the initiative will be a cookbook that will help standardize the approach to food supply in the army.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the public organization «Cult Food» of Yevhen Klopotenko. Its goal is to gather and systematize the experience of military cooks from different units.
The «Preparing for Battle» project: what role Klopotenko will play
Klopotenko himself explained that his participation does not involve creating «author's» dishes for military personnel.
«I am not here to create brilliant author's recipes», — noted the chef.
According to him, many units already have effective cooking practices, but they are not gathered into a single system. Therefore, the main task is to unite these developments and adapt them to various conditions of field kitchens.
Klopotenko emphasized that the new cookbook will not become a mandatory standard. It will be a tool that units can use as needed.
Yevhen Klopotenko became famous after winning the fifth season of the show «MasterChef Ukraine» in 2015. After that, he studied at the French culinary school Le Cordon Bleu and actively promotes Ukrainian cuisine. In particular, he initiated the inclusion of borscht in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. Earlier, the chef's team also created new recipes and menus for Ukrainian school canteens.
Let's remember, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson during his visit to Ukraine visited the Ukrainian cuisine restaurant "100 Years Ahead", owned by chef and restaurateur Yevhen Klopotenko.
