The State Employment Service reported that at the beginning of August, 241,000 job offers were posted on the Single Job Portal, while 132,000 people were searching for jobs through the Employment Service.
According to the Employment Service, there are two job vacancies for each job seeker using the state service. The most job vacancies this year were in the fields of sales, transport, gastronomy, technical specialties, accounting, medicine, administration, installers, electricians, and others.
The overall labor shortage is due to two main reasons: military actions in the country and significant changes in the economy.
The Employment Service has identified job placements for 132,000 people, which averages two offers per candidate through the Employment Service. Some job seekers have higher education, while others hold vocational-technical diplomas.
Reasons for the labor shortage
The Employment Service explained that the military events in the country complicate job searching for residents who traditionally held positions predominantly occupied by men. Economic changes are causing structural unemployment due to a lack of necessary skills among workers to fill vacancies.
There is also a problem of regional imbalance. For example, in Kyiv, there are 24 vacancies for each job seeker, in the Lviv region - only 4 vacancies, while in Mykolaiv region the number of job seekers is twice the number of available vacancies.
According to the State Employment Service, there are over 240,000 job vacancies on the Single Job Portal, but the number of people looking for work is far from matching this figure. Job searching can be challenging due to military conflicts and internal political issues, as well as due to rapid economic changes in the country.
