Court Ruling on Drug Trafficking in Kyiv
A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to six years in prison with asset forfeiture for drug trafficking in Kyiv. The court found him guilty of packaging cocaine inside gift soap and dispatching the parcels via taxi services to buyers. According to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, law enforcement seized both cocaine and amphetamine during his arrest. Investigators noted that the drugs were first placed in resealable plastic bags before being hidden inside gift-wrapped soap packages.
Dismantling of a Drug Lab
In a related operation, authorities shut down an interregional cocaine supply chain orchestrated by a group operating in Kyiv. Police spent several months gathering evidence on this network. As part of the probe, the Solomianskyi District Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv forwarded an indictment to the court against six members of an organized group that had set up an amphetamine production lab.
The lab was located in a private house in the Kyiv region, where roughly 40 kilograms of amphetamine were produced every month. A 34-year-old Kyiv resident was identified as the ringleader. Seized narcotics were valued at nearly 8 million Ukrainian hryvnias. The charges fall under Parts 1 and 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts of Ukrainian law enforcement to combat drug trafficking, as well as the innovative concealment methods used by criminal networks. The dismantling of the lab and the arrests underscore the state's commitment to public safety and the fight against drug-related crime.
