Kyiv Authorities Bust Cocaine Trafficking Ring Worth 8 Million Hryvnias

Interregional Cocaine Distribution Network Dismantled

According to Главком: Law enforcement in Kyiv has shut down a cocaine supply chain stretching across regions, seizing narcotics valued at roughly 8 million hryvnias (about $215,000). The operation’s mastermind, a 40-year-old man from Kryvyi Rih, is a known member of the local criminal drug gang called the Dvadtsativski. To move the cocaine from Kryvyi Rih to Kyiv, he used a vehicle outfitted with a hidden compartment. Once in the capital, a 43-year-old accomplice from the Kyiv region took over distribution and sales.

Investigators also identified a wholesale buyer-a 35-year-old resident of the Kyiv region. Seized items included roughly one kilogram of cocaine, digital scales, mobile phones, and cash. Four individuals have been officially notified of suspicion in the case. A court has ordered pretrial detention for three of them, with the option of posting bail.

Ukraine's Ongoing Fight Against Narcotics

This bust is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking in Ukraine, which has intensified in recent years. For context, Kyiv police recently dismantled an amphetamine lab run by two local men in an apartment belonging to one dealer’s mother-an operation that netted them over 500,000 hryvnias monthly. The Solomianskyi District Prosecutor’s Office in Kyiv has already sent an indictment to court against six members of an organized group involved in amphetamine production and sales. Police spent several months documenting the criminal activity, underscoring the severity of the drug problem in the country.

The elimination of this cocaine channel is part of a wider law enforcement campaign targeting drug trafficking in Ukraine, actively pursued in recent years. Operations aimed at detecting and shutting down drug gangs reflect growing attention to the issues of addiction and drug trade, as well as authorities’ efforts to ensure public safety.
