U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping may meet before or during the APEC summit in South Korea, scheduled for 2025. There is a possibility that Trump will visit China before the summit or meet with Xi Jinping right during the APEC event.
'Xi Jinping plans to be present at the event in Gyeongju, however, Trump's participation has not yet been confirmed,' South Korean media reported.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio have already met to discuss the possible meeting of the leaders. Xi also invited Trump to visit China, and the American president accepted this invitation.
Against the backdrop of threats from Trump regarding high tariffs on Chinese goods, relations between the U.S. and China are gradually stabilizing. The parties have already agreed on a preliminary trade agreement that will ease trade between the countries.
The meeting between Trump and Xi may have significant implications for the geopolitical situation in the world, as well as for the economic relations between the two largest economies in the world.
