On the night of October 14, Russian forces attacked Ukraine, focusing on energy facilities. President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 96 strike drones were recorded, most of which were shot down, but some managed to penetrate into Ukraine, resulting in casualties and destruction.
«Ninety-six strike drones were used, most were shot down, but unfortunately not all. In the evening, bombs were dropped on Kharkiv, hitting the city hospital, with 57 people injured. Energy facilities in Kirovohrad and Sumy regions were also damaged,» Zelensky noted.
It was noted that Russia continuously attacks the energy facilities of Ukraine, so it is necessary to involve partners such as the USA and European countries to protect the country from Russian assaults.
Ukraine under the threat of importing electricity
As a result of constant attacks on the energy infrastructure, Ukraine may be forced to start importing electricity this winter. Despite the difficult situation, energy company workers continue to carry out restoration work, despite ongoing shelling by Russian forces.
The appearance of Russian strike drones attacking energy facilities in Ukraine led to damage and casualties. The president expressed outrage and called for assistance from foreign partners to protect the country from the destructive consequences of Russian aggression. Such a situation may also lead to the necessity of importing electricity from external states.
