In Russia, laws are being 'improved' again. Now it is possible to quickly and easily deprive citizenship from those who do not love law and order. According to recent reports, the State Duma has increased the number of articles in the Criminal Code under which citizenship can be revoked from undisciplined citizens - there are now 81 such articles!
'Now officials will find it even easier to apply these sanctions: they can revoke citizenship from both terrorist criminals and those who disagree with the authorities and express their opinions on social media,' the intelligence agency reported.
There have already been cases where people were deprived of citizenship, especially those who are considered 'terrorists' or 'extremists'. But this is not just the deprivation of a passport - it is the loss of access to basic rights and services, such as work, medical treatment, and education. Ultimately, this can lead to a person becoming stateless, when they no longer exist for their country.
Although it is officially stated that these laws do not apply to residents of occupied territories, everyone remembers the promises made by the regime. And for many, even those with 'connections', exceptions can be made, and citizenship can be revoked.
Summary
The new law in Russia expands the possibilities for deprivation of citizenship for individuals considered lawbreakers. This may lead to serious legal problems for those affected by this law and deepen the crisis in the relationship between the state and its citizens.
