Alexander Saputin Comments on Valencia Transfer Talks
Zorya Luhansk goalkeeper Alexander Saputin has addressed the potential transfer to Spanish club Valencia that was discussed during the winter transfer window. The player confirmed genuine interest from the Spanish side, but stated the clubs ultimately failed to agree on the terms of the deal.
“Yes, I receive a considerable number of offers from top leagues. I am a maximalist and very happy about this. I believe sooner or later I will end up in such a championship. At the very least, from my side, I am doing everything possible for this.”

This season, Saputin has played 14 matches in the Ukrainian Premier League, conceding 14 goals, and has kept a clean sheet in 5 of those games. His contract with Zorya runs until the summer of 2028, indicating his long-term commitment to the club.
Success of Ukrainian Goalkeepers
Meanwhile, among Ukrainian goalkeepers, Ivan Pakholyuk of Kolos Kovalivka has been ranked among the world's top five young goalkeepers under the age of 23. In terms of goals conceded, Uruguayan goalkeeper Bruno Antunes was ranked ahead of Pakholyuk.

Against this backdrop of success, Ukrainian footballers are no longer considered foreign players in ten European leagues, with the list of friendly countries now including those mentioned above. The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) is advocating for equal rights for Ukrainian players in EU countries. This growing recognition reflects the increasing quality of talent emerging from Ukraine's domestic league.
This situation points to a rising interest in Ukrainian footballers from European clubs, which could positively impact the development of Ukrainian football overall. The removal of foreign player status for Ukrainians in several European leagues also opens new avenues for their professional growth and integration into European football.
