Independence Day Payment Won't Reduce Social Benefits, Ukraine's Pension Fund Clarifies

Пенсійний фонд України роз'яснив, що виплата до Дня незалежності не вплине на соціальні виплати.

One-Time Independence Day Payment

Ukraine's Pension Fund has confirmed that the one-time payment issued for Independence Day will not be counted as part of a family's total income when calculating basic social assistance. This clarification is crucial for many Ukrainians, as it ensures that receiving this holiday bonus will not lead to a reduction in their regular benefits.

According to the Pension Fund, this lump-sum payment does not lower the amount of basic social aid a household can receive. It is excluded from the total family income used in the assistance calculation, an important factor for those seeking financial support.

How Basic Social Assistance Is Calculated

The amount of basic social aid is determined by the difference between the total baseline value for each family member and the household's average monthly income. Income is calculated as a monthly average over a specific period.

When assessing income, the fund looks at the three months immediately before the application for aid. Notably, payments received only once during a calendar year are not added to the income calculation. The Independence Day holiday payment falls under this category as a single annual disbursement.

This policy aims to protect the financial stability of the most vulnerable populations facing economic hardship. Thanks to this clarification, Ukrainians receiving social assistance can count on this extra financial support without worrying about losing their existing benefits.

The decision also highlights the importance of state-backed support amid ongoing economic challenges and social pressures.

In addition to the clarification regarding the Independence Day payment, it's essential to note that the one-time financial aid will be automatically distributed to eligible Ukrainians. This measure aims to streamline the support process, ensuring that those in need receive their assistance promptly without unnecessary administrative hurdles.
