Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of those who died in the war with Russia. One of these heroes is Olexiy Karliychuk, a senior soldier who was killed on May 10, 2022, in Mariupol by a bullet from a Russian sniper at the Azovstal metallurgical plant.
Olexiy was born in 2002 in the Chernivtsi region. He was known for his love of art, sports, and a responsible attitude towards everything he undertook. After finishing school, he began working as a tattoo artist and dreamed of opening his own salon.

In 2021, Olexiy enlisted in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in Mariupol, where he perished. His friends and relatives remember him as a responsible soldier who dreamed of a better future for Ukraine.
Olexiy Karliychuk was buried in March 2023. Posthumously, he was awarded the Orders for Courage of the III degree and the Cross of the Hero. He is survived by his mother, father, brother, and sister.
