Ukrainian-American writer, poet, and translator Yuriy Tarnavskyi died at the age of 92. This was reported by his wife Karina on Facebook.

Yuriy Tarnavskyi was born on February 3, 1934, in the Ukrainian city of Turka. After World War II, he lived with his family in a displaced persons camp in New Ulm, and he obtained his secondary education externally in Munich. In 1952, he emigrated to the United States of America.
Tarnavskyi wrote in both Ukrainian and English. He became one of the founders of the avant-garde literary association of Ukrainian writers in the diaspora (NYG), and he was also a member of the Union of Writers of Ukraine and the American community of literary innovators.
