The solemn military awarding in Dnipropetrovsk region turned into a true tragedy this autumn. Russian troops launched an attack on the peaceful gathering of Ukrainian defenders on November 1, using ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones.
According to information from the Office of the Prosecutor General, as a result of this attack, 12 servicemen and seven civilians were killed, while another 36 fighters were injured.
The investigation established that this tragic incident occurred due to a violation of the General Staff's instructions that staff gatherings in high-risk zones are prohibited. The commander of the drone unit ignored this and held the awarding ceremony that almost intersected with the tragedy.
'After the air alarm signal was announced, he did not stop the event and did not disperse the servicemen,' the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
The State Bureau of Investigation has already charged the commander with negligence in military service under wartime conditions according to Ukrainian law. The prosecution demands to detain him without the right to bail.
This event has dealt a serious blow to the military collective and the local population, disturbing the peace in the area and increasing tensions in the region.
