A disaster has occurred in South-Central Texas – at least 43 people have died due to the flooding that swept through on Friday, July 4. Kerr County Sheriff confirmed this information at a press conference, stating that among the dead are 28 adults and 15 children, and 5 children and 12 adults are currently unidentified.
In the city of Kerrville, the situation remains alarming as rescue operations are still ongoing. The situation is particularly tense at the Mystic summer camp, where 27 children remain missing, believed to be victims of the flood.
“All day we have been rescuing people from these camps by the hundreds,” added local official Dalton Rice.

A private Christian-oriented summer camp suffered significant damage due to the rapid flooding caused by the Guadalupe River rising more than 6 meters within two hours during heavy rains.
All other camps along the river have been evacuated, but due to the increased tourist flow during the holiday weekend, the exact number of missing persons remains unknown.
