Road Construction Review in Chernihiv Region

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko conducted a review of road construction in the Chernihiv region and held a working meeting focused on the execution of roadworks. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba, as well as the Head of the State Agency for Restoration and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine, Serhiy Sukhomlyn.

Since the beginning of the year, over 518,000 square meters of road damage have been repaired across Ukraine. The current pace of roadwork completion stands at 60,000 square meters per day. During the meeting, a target was set to increase this rate to 150,000 square meters per day by the end of March. Furthermore, officials were instructed to complete ongoing repairs on roads of international significance by May 1.

The Critical Role of Road Infrastructure

Yulia Svyrydenko emphasized the critical importance of road infrastructure, stating that

“roads are a matter of our defense capability and effective logistics”
.

The Ukrainian government continues to work on improving the road network, which is vital for the country's development. This accelerated repair drive is part of a broader national effort to rebuild critical infrastructure damaged during the ongoing conflict. Ensuring effective road infrastructure is a crucial element not only for economic development but also for supporting the country's defense capabilities. As Ukraine continues to recover from extensive infrastructure damage, the speed and quality of roadwork have become a government priority. The newly established targets for repair rates demonstrate a serious approach to solving this problem, which directly impacts logistical capabilities and the mobility of both military and civilian supplies.
