Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a government meeting to discuss the preparedness of local communities located close to the frontline for the upcoming winter. Special attention was paid to the stability of the energy sector.
According to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, among the proposed initiatives that will be considered by the government is the introduction of a ban on the shutdown of water and electricity supply in frontline communities for unpaid bills. Work is also underway to compensate the difference in heating tariffs to ensure the normal operation of heat supply companies during the heating period.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the state must ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas under difficult circumstances. Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Kuleba added that the stability of communities in conflict conditions requires appropriate measures so that residents have access to heat and light, regardless of the circumstances.
Co-generation units built and about 700 MW of capacity ready for operation
Together with local communities and regions, a network of distributed generation is actively developing, with a special focus on areas near the frontline. Over 129 thousand residential houses have been prepared for winter, and work on social infrastructure preparation is in the final stages, indicating over 90% readiness in these sectors.
During government meetings, the preparation of frontline communities for winter was discussed, particularly the issue of energy stability. The government plans to adopt a series of measures to guarantee uninterrupted supply of electricity and gas under conflict conditions. The network of distributed generation is also actively developing, especially in areas located near the frontline, to provide local residents with access to heat and light.
