Employers Refuse Holiday Marathons
A survey by the Work.ua portal shows changes in employers' attitudes towards holiday weekends, particularly a decrease in the number of companies that operate without weekends during the holidays. In December 2023, 33% of companies operated without additional days off, while by the end of 2025, only 25% remained. This data indicates that more and more enterprises are trying to consider their employees' needs for rest during the holidays.
Changes in Holiday Weekends
The number of companies providing days off for Christmas and New Year has increased from 41% to 50%. In particular, 18% of employers will grant a day off only on January 1, while 2% of companies will rest only on Christmas. Additionally, 5% allow employees to choose their day off, and some companies are introducing full-fledged Christmas vacations from December 30 to January 7.
During the pre-holiday days, such as December 24 and 31, 40% of employers shorten the workday. Specifically, 19% shorten only on December 31, while 6% choose to shorten only on December 24. Meanwhile, 35% of businesses plan to work a full day, indicating a difference in approaches to organizing working time at the end of the year.
Moreover, 78% of employers believe that the absence of holiday weekends negatively affects morale and efficiency. This data highlights the importance of work-life balance, especially during the holiday season. Overall, the trends indicate a gradual shift in approaches to holiday weekends, which could positively impact the working climate in companies.
Changes in employers' attitudes towards holiday weekends may indicate an evolution of corporate culture in Ukraine. This may become a factor influencing recruitment and retention of talent in the future.
