In Odesa, strong currents during bad weather knocked a family off their feet and flooded their home. Four adults and one child perished, unable to save themselves. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referencing the comments of Odesa rescuers' spokesperson Marina Martynenko on the air of Public Radio.

Marina Martynenko explained that the family lived on the basement level, and during bad weather, the wave hit the house, rising up to the second floor. Trapped, people could not escape through the windows or doors and drowned. After draining the water, the police began identifying the bodies. Among the dead was also a 23-year-old girl who was found after going missing the previous morning.

Prolonged rains that covered Odesa on September 30 were caused by a slow local cyclone over the Black Sea. 94 mm of precipitation fell, exceeding the monthly norm by 2.24 times. Meteorologists indicate that the cyclone's movement was blocked by an anticyclone, leading to local downpours and flooding. The danger warning level has been raised to red.

President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba to conduct a thorough inspection of the operations in Odesa and uncover all the circumstances that preceded the tragedy and led to such tragic consequences. Zelensky expects to receive a detailed report by this Friday and expressed condolences to the families and friends of the victims.

During the bad weather in Odesa, strong currents led to a tragedy in which five people died, including a child. This horrific incident shocked the city, and President Volodymyr Zelensky demands a thorough investigation to establish all the circumstances of the event and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
