Oleksandr Syrskyi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and confirmed the start of a serious internal investigation and joint activities with the State Bureau of Investigation. Due to violations of the ban on ceremonial events in the conflict zone, a problem has arisen, the Commander-in-Chief explained.
'There was again a group chat in social networks, and this is a violation of basic security rules. Through hacking networks, the Russians most likely learned about the gathering,' Syrskyi emphasized.
The situation was discussed with the corps commanders, and the head of the Armed Forces believes that the disciplinary measures taken will help avoid similar situations in the future.
Investigation and Established Circumstances
It turned out that on November 1, Russian troops attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with ballistic missiles and strike drones. At that time, Ukrainian military personnel were at the location where awards were being presented. As a result of the shelling, both military personnel and civilians were killed and injured.
The State Bureau of Investigation emphasized that the commander's decision to hold a mass gathering in conditions of high risk of attack contradicts the requirements and orders of the military leadership. The suspicion concerns only this decision, which was the cause of the tragedy, law enforcement officials noted.
