North Korean military personnel are demining the territory near the border with Ukraine

About 10 thousand military personnel from North Korea remain in the border regions of Russia adjacent to Ukraine. They are not participating in battles against the Armed Forces of Ukraine but are engaged in demining the territory where combat operations had previously taken place. This information was released by The Telegraph through the portal 'Glavkom'.

According to the publication, North Korean troops are demining in the Kursk and Belgorod regions, where the Ukrainian Armed Forces had operated at different times. Russian media previously reported a large number of mines left by Ukrainian forces, complicating the return of the civilian population due to mine threats.

'The significant role of North Korea in Russia's demining operations emphasizes the desire of both sides to continue developing their military ties, as stated last month by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, who said they would 'advance without stopping', notes The Telegraph.

According to the publication, in addition to demining work, Korean soldiers are receiving training from Russian military personnel. They are also acquiring the experience of the Russians in conducting warfare using trained material.

New opportunities for the North Korean army after the war in Ukraine

According to assessments from Ukrainian intelligence, after six months of hostilities in Ukraine, North Korea has improved its military capabilities. The country's army has enhanced the accuracy of ballistic missiles, upgraded drones, and accelerated the production of modern weaponry with the help of Russian scientists.

Previously, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un promised full support for Russia, in response to which Russian dictator Putin praised the North Korean soldiers fighting against Ukraine.

It should be emphasized that more than 10 thousand North Korean military personnel remain in Russian territory near the border with Ukraine to perform protective functions as part of cooperation with Russia.
