The former leader of the banned Party of Regions faction in the Verkhovna Rada Oleksandr Yefremov, who is accused of treason in Ukraine, obtained Russian citizenship after fleeing the country. This was reported on February 9 by the journalistic project «Schemes».
According to journalists, citing leaks from Russian databases verified through official Russian registers, Yefremov was issued a Russian passport on December 22, 2022. He used this document for servicing accounts at the Russian «Sberbank», obtaining a tax number, and using services at fitness networks in Russia. He is also registered with the Federal Tax Service of Russia and the Pension Fund as an individual with a social security number, which grants the right to pension payments.

Journalists remind that Yefremov left Ukraine on March 18, 2022, using the railway through the checkpoint on the border with Slovakia, and has not returned since. Currently, according to the investigation, he resides in Moscow.

Yefremov's Apartments in Moscow
According to «Schemes», Yefremov is registered in a two-storey apartment in the elite residential complex «Triumph Palace» in Moscow. The apartment, with an area of 466.5 sq.m., is located on the 26th-27th floors and has been registered in the name of his son Ihor Yefremov since 2016. The total value of this property exceeds 4 million dollars.
In the past, Yefremov headed the Luhansk regional state administration from 1998 to 2005, was a people's deputy of several convocations, and was involved in a number of criminal proceedings, including the vote on the «dictatorial laws» on January 16, 2014.
