Swiss Foreign Minister Ignacio Cassis promised to grant Russian dictator Vladimir Putin 'immunity' from arrest under the International Criminal Court's warrant. This was reported by Agence France Presse.

The Russian dictator will receive such guarantees if he decides to participate in peace negotiations.

Putin is officially a suspect in an international crime - the forced transfer and deportation of citizens from Ukrainian territories occupied to the territory of the Russian Federation. The international arrest warrant implies the possibility of arrest and extradition to judicial authority if he leaves Russia.

Switzerland, which is a state party to the Rome Statute, has established special conditions for granting 'immunity' to those subject to international warrants. Thus, there will be no detention of individuals arriving 'for a peace conference and not for private reasons.'

Support for the mission in Ukraine

Recently, Trump expressed his readiness to support the European mission in Ukraine and voiced expectations from Putin and Zelensky.

Switzerland guarantees 'immunity' from arrest to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the condition of participation in peace negotiations. This concerns the international crime of which Putin is accused - the forced transfer and deportation of Ukrainians. In this way, Switzerland supports the possibility of a peaceful resolution of the conflict without negative consequences for the Russian leader.
