The musician Taras Topolya has initiated legal proceedings against the people's deputy Maryana Bezuha due to her statements about false information regarding his military service. He considers her remarks about "fake mobilization" and using his service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for publicity as defamation. This information was reported by the outlet Oboz.ua citing an interview with Topolya for "Glavkom."
The conflict between them began in June when the shelling of Topolya's apartment during the war led to comments from Bezuha on social media. She called it "karma" for the singer because of his military service. Topolya believes such words are defamatory and organized a fundraising campaign for "psychiatric help" for the deputy, but after her refusal, he donated it to support the children of fallen soldiers.
Details of the lawsuit
In a new interview, Topolya emphasized that Bezuha should be held accountable for spreading false information. A lawsuit has already been filed, and the musician expects a fair decision and a public retraction of the offensive statements. Currently, Bezuha has not commented on this step directed toward her.
It should be noted that Topolya, together with the band "Antytila," joined the territorial defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to support the country during the years of war. After a year of service, they returned to civilian life; however, Topolya continues to remain a military member. He emphasizes that his mission is not only on stage but also in the army.
The vibrant music world has come alive with the lawsuit between Taras Topolya and Maryana Bezuha. The singer demands a public retraction of her statements and accountability for spreading false information about his military service. Whether this legal duel will ultimately take place and how it will affect public opinion remains to be seen.
