Increase in gas distribution tariffs for non-household consumers
The gas distribution tariff for non-household consumers will increase by 86% in 2026. This decision has been the subject of discussion between the enterprise 'Zaporizhstal' and the National Commission for Regulation in the Spheres of Energy and Public Utilities (NERC). NERC approved a draft resolution under which the tariff for the Zaporizhzhia branch of 'Gas Distribution Networks of Ukraine' LLC will increase by 137% over the next year.
As a result of the tariff increase, 'Zaporizhstal's' expenses for the distribution of natural gas will rise by more than 16.7 million hryvnias per year. Taking into account the increase in fuel and electricity costs, which have risen by 83%, the total expenses will reach 41 million hryvnias. Also, personnel expenses have increased by 53%, from 420 to 641 million hryvnias, and expenses for replacing meters have risen by 46%.
Impact on the Ukrainian industry
The volumes of natural gas distribution are decreasing by 41%, from 955 to 568 thousand cubic meters. The forecast for the industrial producer price index in 2026 is +13.6%. The proposed gas distribution tariff will not exceed 1.03 hryvnias per cubic meter. These changes could significantly impact the operations of enterprises, particularly their financial results and competitiveness in the market.
The increase in gas distribution tariffs for industrial consumers, such as 'Zaporizhstal', may have serious consequences for the Ukrainian industry, especially under the conditions of rising energy resource costs. This could lead to a reduction in production volumes, a decrease in investment in development, and ultimately affect employment. The situation requires careful monitoring and possible adaptation of enterprises' strategies to maintain competitiveness in the market.
