Drones spotted over the U.S. nuclear weapons base in Belgium: what is known

БПЛА виявлені над базою ядерної зброї США в Бельгії: інформація та деталі подій

On the evening of November 1, several drones were spotted over the Kleine-Brogel airbase in the Belgian city of Peer. This is one of the key bases of the Belgian Air Force, where American nuclear weapons are deployed. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Belga.

Defense Minister Theo Francken reported on social media platform X that this time 'several drones' were spotted over the site. He also reminded that suspicious drones had already been spotted over a military training camp last month.

A drone detection system has been operational on the base for some time. 'The Ministry of Defense will meet with local police next week to assess the threat and intensify efforts to identify and apprehend the drone pilots,' Francken noted.

It is known that Lithuania wants to attract additional air defense forces to protect its airspace after a drone entered the country's territory from Belarus. On the evening of Friday, October 24, Lithuania temporarily closed two of the country's largest airports - in Vilnius and Kaunas - as well as border crossing points with Belarus. The decision was made after balloons from the Belarusian side entered Lithuania's airspace. In response, airports suspended operations, and border services blocked movement through the main crossings.

Moreover, Lithuania is increasingly facing the invasion of smuggled balloons from Belarus into their airspace. Due to the potential threat, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda announced a possible decision to close the border with Belarus for an extended period and to limit transit to Kaliningrad.

This news concerns the invasion of drones into the airspace of European countries - Belgium and Lithuania. Both cases have prompted government structures to enhance security measures and responses to such threats, considering the potential risk to national security from such incidents.
