The Installation of the Tallest Didukh in Ukraine

In the city of Bila Tserkva, the tallest didukh in Ukraine has been installed, measuring 8.78 meters, which will delight residents and guests of the city until the Epiphany on January 6. The didukh was set up on St. Nicholas Day, December 6, and takes a central place next to the T.G. Shevchenko Culture and Recreation Park.

The idea, project, and design of the didukh belong to the artisan Yanina Rud. The implementation of this project became a family affair: her husband Yuriy and son Yuriy helped realize the concept. As Kateryna Voznenko noted,

“this tall didukh started with one thought: Ukrainian traditions should sound loud and proud, and the city of Bila Tserkva deserves such a talisman”
.

Symbol of Ukrainian Traditions

The didukh, a traditional element of Ukrainian celebrations, has become a symbol of winter holidays and emphasizes the importance of preserving cultural traditions. The establishment of such a monument in the city is not only a local event but also a testament to the revival and support of Ukrainian customs.

The installation of the tallest didukh in Ukraine in Bila Tserkva is an important step in preserving and popularizing Ukrainian cultural traditions. This event reflects the local community's desire to support its roots and celebrate national identity, especially in the context of modern challenges. The didukh, as a symbol of winter holidays, not only decorates the city but also reminds of the importance of traditions in modern Ukrainian society.
