In Russia, discontent is beginning to grow among the elite regarding the continuation of the war, which is accompanied by exacerbating economic problems. According to data from the Levada Center, 64% of the population supports peace negotiations as an alternative to prolonging the conflict, which is a record high. Especially among the financial elite, concerns are growing about the state of the economy, which will suffer from inflation due to sanctions and military expenditures.

'The number of those who are disappointed in Putin because he could have ended the war but did not is increasing,' notes Tatyana Stanovaya from the Carnegie Center. She sees the reason in negative feelings about 'the lost opportunity due to Putin's stubbornness and irrationality.'

One anonymous Russian civil servant pointed out that the main problem is economic difficulties: 'Credit crisis. Recession. It's clear to everyone. But the political will is directed elsewhere.' The head of the Central Bank, Elvira Nabiullina, emphasized that the reserves that supported the Russian economy for two years during the war have been exhausted. Economists forecast the possibility of continuing military efforts for another 18-20 months under the current sanctions.

This news discusses the growing discontent among the Russian elite due to the continuation of the war and the exacerbation of economic problems in the country. The population is increasingly expressing support for peace negotiations as an alternative to conflict, which creates additional pressure on the government and the president. The danger of an economic crisis continues to grow, which may affect the further development of the situation in the country.
