The Constitutional Court changes practices: how to restore violated rights

The Constitutional Court of Ukraine held a legal workshop on November 28, 2025, on the theme 'Constitutional Guarantees for the Protection of Human Rights and Freedoms'. This event was organized under the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the Legal Publishing House 'Law of Ukraine'.


The workshop aimed to enhance knowledge in the field of constitutional control, application of law, and protection of human rights. It also facilitated increased cooperation between the academic community and constitutional justice authorities.


The Head of the Legal Terminology Center of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (2018–2024) Serhii Holovaty presented a thematic report. He explained the significance of the rule of law principle for a democratic legal state and highlighted doctrinal approaches and international standards. He particularly focused on the role of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine in forming legal standards and ensuring constitutional control.

The second part of the workshop was dedicated to the institution of constitutional complaint. Judge of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine Oleg Pervomaisky discussed the court's practice on this issue. He detailed the criteria for the admissibility of complaints, typical problems in the application of law, and trends in restoring violated rights of individuals.


Judges of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, scholars, and representatives of the legal community participated in the event. The workshop confirmed the importance of cooperation between the court and the academic community, promoted the exchange of experiences, and expanded knowledge in the field of constitutional law.


The holding of the legal workshop at the Constitutional Court of Ukraine indicates the engagement of the judicial system in actively interacting with the academic community to enhance professionalism and develop legal culture in the state.
