Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reported that Russia confirmed its readiness to hold a third round of negotiations with Ukraine. According to him, he received this information during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. 'The Russians stated that they are ready for the third round of negotiations. We are currently waiting for a response from the Ukrainian side, our contacts with them continue,' Fidan explained.
At the same time, the Turkish minister emphasized that the Russian side has put forward certain conditions for the start of the negotiation process. Moscow wishes for 'several issues to be resolved before the negotiations begin,' he added.
Moreover, the diplomat noted that more work is needed to achieve specific results within the framework of the negotiations. It is necessary to resolve issues in order to start this process.
Ankara as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia
It should be noted that Turkey traditionally acts as a mediator in diplomatic contacts between Kyiv and Moscow. The second round of peace talks between the delegations of the two countries ended on June 2 in Istanbul.
The message about Russia's readiness for a third round of negotiations with Ukraine confirms the importance of diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict. Turkey's role as a mediator reflects the search for compromise and peaceful resolution of disputes between the parties.
