The Verkhovna Rada Names Main Candidates for Ministerial Positions in Koretsky's Government

The Verkhovna Rada is preparing for the appointment of a new Cabinet of Ministers led by Serhiy Koretsky. Ahead of the vote, Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak published a list of the main candidates for ministerial positions and discussed the personnel changes currently under consideration.

Who May Join Koretsky's New Government

According to Zheleznyak, the candidate for the position of Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky has already held meetings with parliamentary factions and groups. During the conversation, he stated that the main challenge for the government will be preparing for one of the most difficult heating seasons, as well as ensuring financing for the army and the country's economic stability.

The MP noted that he plans to support Koretsky's candidacy during the vote in the Verkhovna Rada.

Among the candidates for key positions mentioned by Zheleznyak:

  • Denys Shmyhal - First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy;

  • Tetyana Berezhna - Deputy Prime Minister;

  • Serhiy Marchenko - Minister of Finance;

  • Viktor Liashko - Minister of Health;

  • Matviy Bidnyy - Minister of Youth and Sports;

  • Andriy Sybiha - Minister of Foreign Affairs.

According to him, Denys Uliutin is being considered for the position of Minister of Social Policy, although a final decision has not yet been made.

What Other Personnel Changes Are Being Discussed

Zheleznyak also reported that the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Environmental Protection may operate separately again. One of the main contenders for the position of Minister of Economy he mentioned is the head of the Ukrainian office of the international consulting company McKinsey, Oleksandr Kravchenko.

Among other possible appointments, the MP named:

  • Vitaliy Kim - Minister for Veterans Affairs;

  • Andriy Butenko - Minister of Education;

  • Taras Vysotsky - Minister of Agricultural Policy;

  • Vitaliy Bezgin - Minister for Regional Development;

  • Mykola Kalashnyk - Minister of Infrastructure.

Another intrigue, according to Zheleznyak, remains the future of Mykhailo Fedorov. According to one possibility, he may head the Ministry of Defense. If this does not happen, the main candidate for the position of Minister of Defense is said to be Ihor Klymenko, who would then leave the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Member of Parliament stressed that the final composition of the government will be known after the parliament session, as some personnel decisions may still change before the vote.

Earlier, Zheleznyak announced a crackdown on corruptionists in response to EU demands and 90 billion euros.
