Uklon Service Restarts in Kyiv
Beginning January 17, 2023, the Uklon taxi-hailing service will once again operate around the clock in Kyiv. The company has coordinated with city authorities to allow its drivers to accept orders at any time, even during the enforced curfew. Uklon officially announced this resumption of 24-hour service on January 16, 2023. This move is a significant development for a city adapting to life under wartime restrictions.
Updated Regulations for Private Transport
New regulations permit private vehicle travel for journeys to designated 'Points of Invincibility.' These essential locations can include:
- grocery stores,
- pharmacies,
- gas stations,
- service establishments,
- and shopping centers with independent power supplies.
Businesses serving as Points of Invincibility are authorized to operate 24 hours a day. Oleksiy Kuleba, a government representative, also announced that more flexible curfew rules for Kyiv are expected soon.
A Uklon spokesperson emphasized that 'every night-time trip now helps residents reach Points of Invincibility, medical facilities, railway stations, their homes, or simply deliver food or medicine to loved ones.' This highlights the service's crucial role for Kyiv's citizens under current circumstances.
The return of Uklon's 24-hour service is a vital step in maintaining mobility for residents during the curfew. With access to medical care and other critical locations being essential, the taxi service provides necessary support for the capital's inhabitants. This development may also improve the overall availability of services in a city enduring a challenging period.
