Ukraine's Youngest Greco-Roman Wrestler is Just Three Years Old

Маленький борець з України, якому всього три роки, вже вражає своїми досягненнями.

Ukraine's Youngest Wrestler

Three-year-old Leon Kozachenko has been officially recognized as Ukraine's youngest Greco-Roman wrestler. The record was certified in the Gatnenska community during the All-Ukrainian Children's Charity Tournament in memory of Roman Kolysnychenko. This achievement marks a new milestone for Ukrainian sport, showing that age is no barrier to high performance. Greco-Roman wrestling is a traditional and highly respected Olympic discipline in Ukraine.

Leon Kozachenko, now aged 3 years and 11 months, has been training in Greco-Roman wrestling for a year and a half. His coach, Maksym Skrypnyk, and mentor, Dmytro Pikalov, prepared the young athlete for competition by setting him various physical challenges. According to Lana Vetrova, Leon's record 'breaks stereotypes about age in elite sport.'

Lana Vetrova: 'At such an early age, Leon completes all the tasks set for him: push-ups, rolls, planks, sit-ups, rope climbing, squats, headstands against a wall, and much more.'

Leon comes from a large family of displaced persons from the Mykolaiv region and was born at the start of the full-scale invasion. His sporting achievement is a significant moment not only for him but for all who support children in their athletic pursuits. This record underscores that sport can be accessible to the very young and may inspire other children to take up active sports.

Future Prospects for Children's Sport in Ukraine
