Egg export growth in Ukraine during 2025
In 2025, Ukraine’s egg sector saw a rise in exports even as overall production levels fell. According to the data, gross egg production reached 11,434 million units in 2025, a 0.5% drop compared to 2024. This figure also sits 13% below the five-year average.
A notable shift occurred in the production structure: the share of enterprises in total egg output increased to 54%, amounting to 6,085 million units. Meanwhile, households cut their output to 4,349 million units, representing 46% of the market. In the previous year, households produced 5,531 million units, marking a significant decline in their role.
Exports and egg product shipments
Despite lower production, exports of chicken eggs surged by 77% in 2025, reaching 137,500 metric tons. The European Union accounted for 73.3% of all egg export deliveries, while other European countries purchased 12.7%. Additionally, Middle Eastern nations bought 8%, Southeast Asia took 3.2%, and the remaining regions acquired 2.8% of the products.
Shipments of egg products abroad also grew by 3%, totaling 7,800 metric tons. The vast majority—95.3%—went to the EU market.
These figures highlight a transformation in Ukraine’s egg production landscape, with enterprises increasingly dominating over households.
The export surge, especially to the European Union, may signal improved competitiveness among Ukrainian producers on the global stage. It could also reflect the industry’s adaptation to changing market conditions and rising demand from international buyers.
The remarkable increase in Ukraine's egg exports this year follows a trend seen in recent months, where March alone recorded exports of 216 million units, marking the highest monthly total in five years. This surge not only underscores the growing demand for Ukrainian eggs but also highlights the industry's resilience amidst production challenges.
