84 Ukrainians returned from captivity: among them are defenders of Mariupol and civilians since 2014

On Thursday, August 14, a prisoner exchange took place, as a result of which 84 Ukrainians returned home from Russian captivity. This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.


According to him, among those released are both military personnel and civilians, most of whom need medical assistance and rehabilitation.



'We are bringing Ukrainians home, to Ukraine. A new exchange, 84 people. Almost all of them need medical assistance, significant rehabilitation. Among those released today, there are civilians who have been held by the Russians since 2014, 2016, and 2017. Among the released military are defenders of Mariupol. I am grateful to everyone who helps us continue to release Ukrainian prisoners,' noted the President of Ukraine.


The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War clarified that 33 servicemen and 51 civilian Ukrainians were released from Russian captivity. The youngest released Ukrainian is 26 years old, and the oldest is 74 years old, of which 7 years he spent in a Russian prison.


Conclusion: As a result of the exchange of prisoners with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the return of 84 Ukrainians to their homeland. Most of those released need medical assistance and rehabilitation, including both military and civilian individuals.
