Report from Ukraine’s Ministry of Communities and Territories Development
A new government initiative supporting frontline areas has been rolled out, covering 10 regions and 216 communities home to nearly 7 million people. The Ministry of Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine reports that this program includes more than 60 support tools and has led to the creation of Resilience Plans, approved by Ukraine’s President at the National Security and Defense Council. To date, over 1,600 construction sites have been launched, with 277 projects already completed.
Key Achievements of the Ministry
Among the Ministry’s successes are 29 water supply projects across 14 regions, set to serve over 10 million Ukrainians. State housing assistance has reached more than 500,000 people, while over 200,000 families have used the eRestoration program. Additionally, more than 3,200 internally displaced families from temporarily occupied territories have purchased their own homes. Over 3,000 facilities have been restored and modernized, and more than 600 projects under Ukraine’s Recovery Program have been implemented.
In community and infrastructure recovery, roughly 90% of facilities in the de-occupied Kyiv region have been restored. Over 18 million square meters of road surfaces have been repaired, and the first European-standard railway line, Chop–Uzhhorod, has been completed. The eCherha border crossing system now handles over 3 million crossings, while Ukraine’s maritime corridor has transported more than 200 million tons of cargo. Major concession projects have also been launched at the Chornomorsk port.
The Ministry has attracted over $3.2 billion in funding for infrastructure recovery and development. Its portfolio of international projects includes 60 agreements worth more than $8.5 billion total. The Ministry has also prepared the RDNA5 assessment and secured the adoption of 14 laws. Official screening of all areas under the Ministry’s responsibility has been completed as part of Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.
This report highlights the government’s active efforts to rebuild and develop infrastructure, especially in frontline regions. The implementation of numerous projects and the inflow of international investment reflect Ukraine’s commitment to improving living conditions and restoring damaged infrastructure. These steps could be crucial for stability and recovery amid the ongoing challenges the country faces.
As Ukraine continues to make strides in its recovery efforts, the government has also unveiled an ambitious plan featuring 15 major infrastructure initiatives aimed at revitalizing the nation post-conflict. These projects, valued at $5 billion, represent a significant step forward in rebuilding critical infrastructure and supporting economic growth across the country.
