Ukrainians may be denied entry to Poland from 2026: new border rules

З новими правилами на кордоні, українці можуть зіткнутися з обмеженнями в доступі до Польщі з 2026 року.

New border crossing rules for Ukrainians

From 2026, Ukrainians may be denied entry to Poland due to new border crossing rules. These rules will include requirements for documents and financial capability that travelers must comply with.

Requirements for entry into Poland

To enter Poland, Ukrainians will need to have:

  • a biometric passport,
  • a visa,
  • a residence card or medical insurance.

It is important to note that entry will be prohibited for individuals with forged documents, as well as those who are on the list of undesirable foreigners or SIS. These innovations are aimed at enhancing border security and controlling the entry of foreigners.

Another important condition is compliance with financial limits. For travelers planning to stay in Poland for up to 4 days, a financial capacity of 300 zlotys is required. If the visit exceeds 4 days, travelers will need to have 75 zlotys for each day of stay. Additionally, travelers must have a return ticket or an amount equivalent to its cost, not less than 200 zlotys. Border guards will accept any currency, including hryvnias.

These changes may significantly affect Ukrainian travelers planning to visit Poland. The need to comply with new requirements will be an important step in preparing for trips abroad.

The introduction of new border crossing rules may pose a challenge for many Ukrainians used to simplified entry conditions. This may lead to the necessity of more careful travel planning and preparation of all necessary documents. Furthermore, financial requirements may impact travelers' budgets, forcing them to reconsider their travel plans to Poland.
