From August 1, gas and electricity rates for Ukrainians will remain at the current level. This information is reported by 'Hvylya', citing materials from Novosti.LIVE. The price of gas will remain at 7.96 hryvnias per cubic meter, while electricity will cost 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour.
According to the information, 98% of gas consumers who receive services from 'Naftogaz' will not be subject to changes in cost due to a temporary ban on tariff increases, which will remain in effect for at least until next year.
'The price increase to 6 hryvnias will take place. It is possible that this will be carried out gradually. The exact date is still unknown,' said Andriy Zakrevskyi, Deputy Director of the Association of Energy and Natural Resources of Ukraine.
Electricity tariffs will also remain unchanged until October 2025. Thus, for 165 kWh of electricity, a family of three will pay about 713 hryvnias monthly. Owners of dual-tariff meters can significantly save by taking advantage of night tariffs.
Experts predict a gradual increase in electricity tariffs to the level of other European countries, but note that the government plans to improve social assistance for those in need.
It is expected that increases in tariffs may occur in stages, but exact dates are not clarified at this moment. It is likely to happen closer to 2026.
By the decision of the Ukrainian government, gas and electricity rates remain unchanged until the fall of 2025, when an increase may be possible. Specialists warn of a gradual rise in electricity costs, but also emphasize the government's plans to enhance social support for Ukrainians.
