Electricity tariffs in Ukraine
Ukrainians pay significantly less for electricity compared to market value. The fixed tariff for the population is 4.32 UAH per kilowatt-hour, while the full price, taking into account costs for November 2025, reaches 11.74 UAH per kWh. This indicates a substantial difference between the established tariffs and the market price of electricity.
Factors influencing tariffs
The key factors affecting tariff formation are the cost of generation, which is 6.83 UAH per kWh. Meanwhile, the night tariff for some consumers ranges from 1.7 to 2.16 UAH per kWh. For households using electric boilers, the price of electricity (for consumption up to 2000 kWh per month in the winter period) is 2.64 UAH per kWh.
As of today, a decision to change tariffs after April 30, 2026, has not been made. It is noted that the fixed price of 4.32 UAH will remain relevant at least until spring 2027. This data indicates that consumers in Ukraine will continue to pay for electricity at a reduced rate, which is significantly lower than the market value.
The situation with electricity tariffs in Ukraine raises concerns about the financial stability of the energy sector, as fixed tariffs are significantly lower than market ones. This may lead to losses for energy companies if electricity prices in the market continue to rise. It is important for the government to consider the possibility of tariff adjustments in the future to ensure a balance between energy availability for consumers and the economic viability of the energy sector.
