The government freezes electricity tariffs until 2026: how much Ukrainians will have to pay now

Уряд вирішив зберегти поточні ціни на електроенергію до 2026 року: які витрати чекатимуть на громадян у найближчому майбутньому.

Freezing Electricity Tariffs

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has made a decision to freeze electricity tariffs until April 30, 2026. According to the new conditions, the tariff is set at 4.32 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour for all household consumers. This decision aims to stabilize the financial burden on the population in the face of economic challenges.

New Tariffs and Conditions

According to the new tariffs, consumers using electric heating will pay 2.64 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour when consuming up to 2000 kWh per month. For owners of dual-zone meters, a reduced tariff during nighttime has been established, which amounts to 2.16 hryvnias per kilowatt-hour from 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

Moreover, for tri-zone meters, tariffs vary depending on the time of day:

  • At night, consumers will pay 1.73 hryvnias;
  • During semi-peak hours – 4.32 hryvnias;
  • During maximum load hours – 6.48 hryvnias.

This decision aims to support various categories of consumers and promote energy savings during peak load hours.

The freezing of electricity tariffs until 2026 reflects the efforts of the Ukrainian government to reduce financial pressure on the population against the backdrop of economic challenges that the country faces, particularly due to the war and energy crisis. The establishment of differentiated tariffs according to consumption time may also stimulate more rational use of electricity, which is important in the context of limited resources and the need for energy stability. This decision may also influence consumer habits and promote energy conservation during critical load hours.
