New Grant Program for Small Business Owners
The Ukrainian government is launching a new grant program through its 'Diia' portal to support self-employed entrepreneurs, specifically those in the second and third groups of the unified tax system. This initiative, part of the 'Own Business' program, provides targeted financial assistance for purchasing energy equipment, enabling businesses to operate autonomously during power outages. This support is crucial for maintaining economic activity amidst the ongoing energy crisis caused by Russia's attacks on infrastructure.
The grants are designated for sole proprietors operating in essential goods and services, such as retail stores, pharmacies, and repair shops. The allocated funds are strictly for ensuring operational continuity and can be used exclusively for:
- Purchasing generators;
- Buying batteries;
- Acquiring inverters;
- Installation, maintenance, or rental of such equipment.
The application process will open shortly on the 'Diia' portal. Government representatives stated,
“Entrepreneurs will be able to receive funds for generators and charging stations to work and provide services to Ukrainians even during blackouts and power outages.”They emphasized that
“The funds have a clear purpose—to ensure businesses can operate even when the lights go out. This assistance is targeted and directed where it is truly critical.”
Helping Businesses Adapt to New Realities
This program offers entrepreneurs a vital opportunity to adapt their operations to the new challenges posed by frequent power disruptions. By providing this financial aid, the initiative aims to help small businesses in Ukraine maintain service continuity during the energy crisis, thereby enhancing their market competitiveness. The grants are also expected to foster the development of infrastructure for autonomous business operations, a critical need under current conditions.
