Ukraine may witness an increase in electricity tariffs due to damaged energy infrastructure, as reported by the National Bank of Ukraine.
Experts predict that the price increase for electricity for the population will occur in 2026 when the economy stabilizes. However, this will be a partial increase, which is projected to be related to the shelling of energy facilities and extraction capacities of the Russian Federation in the third quarter of 2025.
Currently, the NBU predicts a deficit of electricity for the winter period of 2025/2026, which may reach 4-6%. It is expected that in 2026 the deficit may grow to 3% of annual indicators, which will negatively affect economic activity.
The report of the National Bank of Ukraine notes that electricity prices for the population may rise due to the destruction of energy infrastructure and the predicted electricity deficit in the coming years.
